Shenanigans is just a lot of stuff that's going on that's ridiculous or silly and makes no sense.

Shenanagins or the "goings on" according to the Northern Irish is describing adult behaviour, means there was a lot of adults games going on.
eg. the shenanagins at that party would've made your hair curl.

Shenanigans is a colloquial irish expression for tomfoolery or generally getting up to mischief. I can't think of a word in the queen's english to correspond.
