There is ahuge difference if you run memory hogging programs such as dream weaver flash and photoshop. At 512 you can probably run those programs for about 4-6 hours before your computer crashes. At 1 gig of ram you can run them for 10-16 hours. Thats the difference in working all day and having to reboot because the computer is moving agonizingly slow. If you have games the difference between 512 and a gig of ram is the difference in having the game freeze, move slow, skip and stutter unless you close all other windows, or having it run smoothly. Even at 1 gig of ram the games will sometimes slow down.

In most situations there is. The more you "multi-task, the bigger the difference. If you only use the computer for basic word processing, database, or spread sheets, you will not see a huge difference. Graphic intense games sees the biggest difference.

yea its 2x as much 512 is the minium recomended now a days 1 gig is about the standerd

yes there is a huge difference, and if your running vista go with 1gb for sure! you will notice a big improvment. Also what is the timing on the ram your looking at (667Mhz, 800Mhz, or 1066MHz
