Sure, filters are required/recommended at each junction, but your symptoms indicate a different problem.

What Mhz is your cordless phone VS. your wireless router?

If your cordless phone operates on the same frequency (let's say 2.4 ghz), then quite often the two devices will conflict, thus causing your router to drop. Some routers are smart enough to adjust, but many simply disconnect.

Simple solution: Get a 5.8 ghz cordless phone.

is it a 2.4 ghz phone either get a 5.8 mhz phone or switch to a "A" router wireless b and g run on the 2.4 ghz frequency a runs on 5.8 ghz and alout of a routers have a chip in them to try and reduce interference with other devices like bluetooth and cordless phones. If you decide to get dsl the new versalink modems do a b and g then you will also need to get a network card that does a if your dosnt. You could also try moving the router and phone base to different parts of the house,

These filters the others are talking about are for dsl. Its to filter the dsl signal from being broadcast through your phones You states you have cable so these would not help you

You need to move the phones base station at the very least 10 feet away and dont place the receiver near the router or your wireless adapter in the computer.

Your cordless phone is operating at the same freq. as your wireless router.

Its simply conflict (2.4ghz) between your cordless phone and wireless router..

Simply aviod this by changing the router's operating channel to either 1 or 11..

And contact tech support and ask them to upgrade the router to latest firmware.. This is a quick and easy resolution!!

purchase filters for your phone and plug in your base phone into the filter, and the filter into the wall

this way when you use the phone it wont disconnect you because it will be filtered from the internet
