I would like for it to have a pic, site title, and several colors. How can i do this for free?

You can also register a domain or configure it to work with your existing domain. They make it really simple and provide everything: hosting, domain registration, tons of templates to choose from, images, videos, etc... I've never found anything out there quite like it. It's pretty powerful, and at the same time super easy to use.

Most banners are written in Javascript. First, download software for javascript. Then see if you can download some applets and modify them to look the way you want
If you use Mozilla Firefox, you can right-click on a web page, and it reveals all the hypertext. If you find a banner that is similar to the one you want, you can copy the code and paste into whatever program you are using to make your web page.
