This is only true in a HOME. If someone comes in your yard, you can NOT kill them for trespassing.
Reason: The only reason someone is breaking into your house is bad:
-Killing you
-Robbing you
-attacking you

No. In South Carolina, Georgia, or North Carolina deadly force is justified only when the property owner feels that person poses a serious and credible life threat to the safety and livelihood of said property owner or others lawfully on the property. In other words, if he pulls out a gun or a pocketknife, you have all rights to shoot, but be ready to go to court. Also in South Carolina, if the person enters your home in the dead of night, you can shoot them as you have no way to discern whether they are an immediate threat or not.

No. The standard is usually that you can only exercise as much as force as is "reasonable" to defend your life and your property. You can threaten the person with a gun to get off your property, but you can't shoot him or kill him if he's not trying to hurt or kill you. You can restrain him and physically remove him for your property, though. You can also call the police if you don't want to do that yourself. If a person breaks into your house and you believe he poses a threat to your life, and your evidence to assume that is reasonable (he's carrying a weapon, he's verbally antagonizing you, etc.), then you might have to go to court, but you'll probably win.

In America, you are not able to kill someone on your property unless it is for self-defense, or defense of others. It also has to be for a person, not an animal and not to protect your property. You also cannot set up traps on your property that could kill someone, such as a sprining gun trap.
Interestingly, one also has the duty to keep his or her property reasonably free from dangerous conditions, even for trespassers.

No. You can only try to use reasonable force or run away if you are threatened in a place you are cornered. This is not the wild, wild west like in the movies.

Nope. its illegal in all states. the only time a person can fire at another is if there is imminent danger to their lives by a perpetrator (ie the perp pointed a gun at the owner, and the owner shoots him in self-defense)

No they cannot shoot you for trespassing unless you are entering their home and they can convince authorities they were threatened. You cannot shoot someone unless your life is at risk
