A Carboxylic acid is really just a specific class of many different acids. They are organic acids containing a carboxyl group.

There are hundreds of different acids that are Carboxylic acids, and are used in commercial industry. Used in Chemical/Pharmaceutical/ BioTechnology/Food Industries just to name a few.

Acetic Acid (Vinegar), Amino Acids, Citric Acid, Fatty Acids and Salicylic Acids (found in many skin products) are some of the most common types of Carboxylic acids.
