I think their records are even made public as a matter of law (Freedom of Information Act).

Of course they're subject to taxes. Don't be so cynical. OK, they might do a lot of freeloading - but not when it comes to income taxes.

They pay taxes, so does the president. However we pay their salary, so it's our taxes which provide the some of the dollars on which they pay taxes.
