It's because somehow opening our mouths helps us (some of us) to keep our eyelashes still and we can stretch our eyes better that way with our mouths open. lol Dunno? It just feels right. ;o)

Maybe SOME women can't. My mouth is closed when I put on mascara.

oh haha i know exactly what you mean. my friends laugh at me because when i put on mascara and tweeze my eyebrows i make these insane faces with my mouth wide open and my eyes super wide...and i usually end up doing something wierd with my tongue too... like sticking it out... lol!!! you make a good point..
and to answer your question.... lol i think its because we aim for perfection, and that helps us with the prescision in which we apply mascara....
who knew there was such science behind makeup application?!?!?

omg that's a great question! I do the exact same thing, in fact, when in the company of others, I have to force myself to close my mouth! haha i bet it's a reflex of the connected muscles.

thats definitely a rumor bud. i put it on my top lashes with my mouth closed but, my bottom with my mouth open. when you open your mouth your eyey become wider and easier to apply mascara.

For some women it's easier to concentrate when they open their mouths. I personally don't open my mouth.
