I asked this because one time when I was 14 my family went on a road trip and we were hungry so we went to a town call stroudsburg pennsilvania and went to mc doalds their
and when we went in all the white people were giving us evil glares and when we order they got our orders wrong 5 time and we were the only ones ordering.
I also remeber when someone call me and a group of my friends the N word for no reason and this happened in NY.
now that I'm 16 I see more racism not just to black like me but to other racies like asian, hispanics and even sometime even whites I just want to know what other peoples opinions are about this.

Racism has never left, and will continue to lurk even if you don't see it. But the only kind of racism I see (in Michigan) is black-on-black racism, and that alone is mind-baffling.

Funny you mention feeling uncomfortable among different races at a food joint. This weekend on my boat I docked into an old bar and grill I liked on the Southside of Chicago on the Calumet River. From a comfortable family place last year it had been completely redone into a nightclub called "South Beach". I am white and the very rude black employees and (very few) black customers there let me know how unhappy they were to see me... although they were all too happy to take my money. Not the first time. As a white I experience racism by blacks and hispanics. The PC term is "reverse racism" as thought it was a proper defense mechanism or an empowerment by the "repressed"... give me a break. It is hate, stupid racist hate. It's time for blacks and hispanics to recognize racism in themselves and stop pretending its exclusively a white problem. By the way, I'll be overjoyed when "South Beach" goes under in a few months. Is that "empowerment" too?

Ignore them all...you know they have the problem, if they cant see beyond the colour of someones skin then they are either ignorant or just stupid, unfortunately racism is still around us, most racist people are so very quick to judge but never take a look at themselves...they have no conscience or any concept of love and understanding, and the truth of it is racism is more likely to be taught by a father than a mother, and Political Correctness even though it has good intentions perpetuates racism because racists are narrow minded, and will always resent it....you are obviously intelligent, intelligent enough to post a question about a flaw in society...use your intelligence and brain power to rise to the top and look down upon the people who used to look down on you, im white and im not saying its just whites who are racists and the quicker each and every race puts there differences aside the sooner we can progress, remember racial hatred is taught it isnt naturally installed

"Do there is still alot of racism now ?" Wow-- that might be the record for the most things wrong with the shortest sentence!

Sure there is. You have to remember a lot of it is just human nature. True, we should be evolved enough by now to resist that. People in some places are better than others. I'm not far from Stroudsburg PA. It's true, they're not too used to seeing non white people there. But as you pointed out, I get my share of stares in parts on the city where it's black.

I can certainly understand how you feel. I went into a restaurant recently and tried to order a meal. I was totally ignored. When I asked a waitress for help, she just walked away. I was the minority in this restaurant, so I guess they were telling me they didnt want my kind in there. I'm a 69 yoCaucasian grandmother. Racism exists just about everywhere and I wish I could make it disappear. The only way I know to fight it, is to make sure I never discriminate against anyone, regardless of their race or creed. Only thing I dont like is rude people and cruel people. You seem like a very nice young lady and I hope you dont have too many bad experiences.

Of course there's still a lot of racism! Racism has been here since the beginning of time (ok maybe a little bit after the beginning since there was only one race, but that's besides the point).

Every race has their share of racism. Blacks. Whites. Asians. Native Americans. Jews. No one is excempt (especially on Yahoo answers...)

Don't listen to those racist losers. Just be proud of who you are and pray that racists will soften their hearts and realize that all people are created equal.

My opinion is that you are in Gods eyes as good as anybody else and if they are to ignorant to know that, they have a problem, not you. That's really sad. When will people realize that we have all been created equally, and for goodness sake don't stoop so low as to hate them for it. They obviously don't know any better, and don't ever think that all white people feel that way because they don't. Just remember that you are no less than or better than anybody on the face of this earth. Sorry you had to experiance such a thing at such a young age. Pray for them.

Racism is still alive and well in this country. It's hard to change people's personal prejudices and all we can do is hope and pray that they realize that they're probably not going to get anywhere in life with their racism.

What I see more and more isn't blatant racism, but the little things many people say and do that are more racially motivated. Many times, they don't seem to realize what they've just said or what they've done.

Yes racism still exists although I would argue there has been significant improvements when compared to the past. We've done a lot of work and law changes to get here, but we still have a while to go.
