When you memorize something, you put it into your memory. It stays there and when you need it, you can say it out loud or write it exactly as it was originally. Picture memorization as an exact copy of a document in the computer. The original stays in the computer and the copy comes into your hand or into your e-mail if you don't print it out.

So, let's say you "memorize" a poem. Now, there's an exact copy of the poem in your brain and you can say it out loud or write it down whenever you feel like doing so. I'm sure you've memorized many things in your life, like the words to songs you like, for example. Hope this helps.

Memorization is the act of memorizing. To memorize is to put to memory some data. After memorizing data, you will be able to quote the data from memory.
