Female swordtails are live bearers . Like many species of live bearers , if kept alone they will change sex and become male. If you keep a group of females together with no males some will become male. This is a survival trait that helps them survive in the wild. If you let the babies mature. You will probably get a few males. Then the female will have a mate. By the way the change in sex will take some time. At least 6 months. The young ones should be able to breed by about 1 month. Provide the young with floating plants for cover as mom will eat them if she can.

they are live bearera, and since she will have males present then she is bound to become pregnant within 5 wks, depending on conditions present in your aquarium,
remove the kids and raise them separately, this will ensure they mature faster before they can mate

as with most livebearers she will probably drop again in 4/6 weeks time they have the ability to store it away for about up to 4 broods.

they are live bearers, so she will need a male to hook her up.
