What happened to "black don't crack ?"

Well, we live in a society where beauty is judged by a white standard. So for most black people (espeically more pure ones) our noses are too wide, eyes too dark, lips too thick, etc to be considered beautiful by the Western definition. This is pretty evident as 99% of black women don't even wear their hair naturally. Yet 99% of white women do. Because in this case "white is right" and we can't be "happy and nappy". I'm seeing more and more of us walking around with colored contact lenses since so many of us want blue, green, yellow, and purple pink orange space alien eyes. What happened to black eyes being beautiful?

So despite all this "black power", "black is beautiful" we hear so much, and even the quote you put up...most black people dislike their appearance. That's why we get little respect as a people because we cannot even respect ourselves.

I actually dont think it has to do with African-Americans at all. In general more people are having plastic surgery due to the fact that sociaty tells us that we are not beautiful unless we are perfect. The prices have also gone down as technology has gotten better... alot of procedures are same day now with no hospital stay. You should look into the numbers, I bet you will see that the average rise in percentage rage is about the same for all people. Interesting question thanks for asking!

Its all because of people like Lil' Kim going around wanting to be the black barbie! Personally I liked the Amani Doll when it came out not black barbie!

I don't know why. It is a personal choice. But for a race of people than is so diverse in color and beauty, why is it necessary???? Everyone wants to be like us.

Whites are tanning, wearing braids, tryin to rap and all the commercials have African-American based music in them yet we don't seem to profit from any of it. Why?

Peace

Because they have money to spend and of course the "ideal" beauty is still hovering on them

I personally don't agree with plastic surgery for beauty purposes

Girl!
How many of them are getting face-lifts though?
I mean, people in my own family have gotten: tummy-lifts, lipo, breast reductions...and breast augmentation. I wanna know what happened to loving those curves!
