They both exist but one is way more important than the other. The body is what we have now and one day it'll go back to the dirt. However, the soul keeps on going and keeps on living. It is the soul that will stand before God on the day of Judgement. But to answer your question, yes, both the body and the soul exist. It's just that one has more value than the other.

A major philosophical conundrum. Our bodies, as we can only know through physical science, do exist, as we perceive. Our souls, however, are much more intangible. Does a soul even exist? How can it be proven or measured? The existence of the soul must be taken on faith, as in a religious way. There is no current way to prove that it exists.

What makes a man different from an animal? Reason. How and why do we have the ability to reason? Our brains/souls? We do not have the largest brainpan or body to brain ratio of all the living organisms on the planet; how can we have become the dominant species?

A thoughtful searching of all known religious texts would help you to find the answer to your question. If your body did not have the soul of a human, which led you to ask this question, you would not have had the wit to ask the question.

I was informed both are and that the body could not exist w/o a soul.
However, I personally feel they are two seperated entities entwined together for a temporary time on this planet. I also believe that both could exist on their own without any assistance from the other. I feel the body is merely a shell of a man without conscience. It has no real concept of what is right or wrong but merely acts on instinct, without any realy comprehension of what it is doing. I believe the soul is meshed with the body while it lives on earth working out a sort of trade arrangement, a ride to experience all that our world has to offer in exchange for giving the body a conscience. When the two are meshed together they then become a third entity, one in which has both the qualities of man and the soul, forming what we recognize to be man.

Oftern the spirit is referred to as the soul, but really the body and the spirit together make the soul. Both really exist. When you were born your spirit which existed long before entered your new body. When you die your spirit will leave your body. When the reserection occurs your body will be made perfect and immortal and your spirit will reunite with it. After that your spirit and body will never be apart again. Your soul will be like Gods. This will happen to everyone regardless of whether they go to heaven or hell or elsewhere.
