We can't afford to become complacent because if he finds an opening, he'll shove this thing through right under our noses. This bill can be brought up for vote every single day!!!!!!!

We'll wake up one morning to an immigration an amnesty bill that went through if we allow it to happen.

Write, call, email and let your voices continue being heard! Don't let up. Demand that the fence gets built!!!!

When it comes to politics, it's all about what the politicians want. Politicians on both sides of the fence want to give illegal either a working pass or Amensty. In either case it's not going to prevent the spread of TB amongst other contigious dieases.
What's more amazing is why the president of Mexico got voted by promising to change the immigration bill in America. How can a president from another country make such promises and why are our politicians even considering it.
This amongst other things should prove politician are after the same goal they just go about achieving it in different ways.

He has a friendship with them I guess. I think he has to play to what Democrats want. We Republicans should have dealt with it before losing the majority.

The bill only offers a fine for illegals. That is not what immigration law says. They should be deported and come in legally. Ofcourse liberals will accuse him and us of being racist and intolerant for standing for the laws againgst illegal immigrants.

Also, in regards to a previous answer, Bush is not concerned about approval rating because polls are not what make policy and he has never based decisions on polls. Bush has done a good job for the most part, Spending and Immigration both differ from me. And in regars to another post Bush does care about this country.

I feel the same way. He sure as hell listened when we all backed him on going into Iraq, but now he thinks he knows it all and denigrates his "former" backers on this immigration thing. He now believes that we are all UN American, because we don't believe that Rewarding criminals is good for the country. Well Mr. Bush, as much as I believe in you, I just can't bring myself to continuing the faith. You are wrong on this one. And because of the way you have questioned my motives and beliefs, you no longer receive my backing, and neither does the republican party. The republicans can end this DISASTER BILL, but they choose not to. I have re-registered to vote and changed my party to not affiliated. Now, nobody gets to abuse my vote. Not Republican, not Democrat. They can all kiss my grits !!!!!

I'm very liberal and I oppose the immigration bill. I don't really know why Bush wants it so bad, except that the pundits are claiming the defeat last week has made him a lame duck, and he can't face the fact that's over for him.

It may be against "the will of the people", but how can you tell?
Because some pollster hack spit out a number?

Assuming "the people" really don't want it, the only reason W is trying to push it is because HE believes it to be a good law.

Which is why we have a Congress, because it's harder for 535 people to collectively lose their minds than it is for one.

He's desperate to go down in history as anything other than the man that pulled America into a quagmire of the middle east. Also, I believe corporate America has something to with this and he seems to have an unhealthy fascination with Latin people ( raised eyebrows ) , Gonzales , etc.

Have you written him? I have many times and yet again today. What about your senators? Don't leave out the house either. Write and call them all and let them know how they need to vote to keep your support. If this bill makes it to his desk it will be too late. Stop it now.

It is a terrible bill, but he wants his approval rating to go up.

We shouldn't reward the illegals for jumping to the head of the line.
