It sounds like a car does that has a weak battery, but the battery tests out perfectly at auto zone... it is a 1990 mecury sable 3.0 v6, but it only has 50k miles and has been sitting a bit and hardly drove at all during the 17 years of its age... Any idea why the hard starts every time???

Several things can cause this. Is it worse with a hot engine.? Check ignition timing. All the time, check starter. You can check the amp draw at auto zone and if you remove it, they can test the starter for you FOC.

Perhaps the battery IS weak-or has intermittant problems that autozone missed. Maybe its the lowest CCA rating for your make/model. To be sure its not the battery, try swapping with a known good,similarly-rated battery from another car. Still the same? Then it's something else--maybe the starter has been installed without needed shims and is in a tight bind and cannot spin properly.

The good news is that it starts every time! Also your engine may be hard to turn over due to GOOD COMPRESSION, since there's only 50K on the odometer. So count that to the good...

in basic terms with the aid of fact your gas replaced into low it does no longer %. up something it hasn't all waiting have been given and your decision of oil is wonderful, your automobile did start up devoid of subject. you have anti freeze or you does no longer have long previous 4 blocks, you would be fortunate to make a million/2 that and after 8 to 10 minutes warn up on suitable of the force you're all good in that dept. What you probably did say replaced into that's extremely chilly and that i'm putting my funds on a frozen gas clear out. All issues interior the engine compartment could be heat sufficient so it does no longer be something there however the gas clear out is below the automobile and uncovered and it could have a piece interior of it to amass any moisture and freeze. They the pump starts off and the frozen debris get picked up and block the opening.

If you're sure that battery is good, then try replacing the battery cables. They can sometimes look good on the outside, but be badly corroded underneath the plastic coating.

Dragging starter, loose starter, loose cables to the starter, bad relay. Battery too small to provide the umph (cranking power) needed to turn the engine over.

Clean the cables, and the hot wire to the starter, there probably is corrosion so you are not getting all the amps delivered. also check the ground
