I really didn't care for most bands out of the 80's (poison, def lepard, bon jovi and the like) Didn't really start getting into music untill 86 (master of puppets) then 87 (appetite for destruction & Nothings shocking) I started waking up to the music around ......the early 90's came in with Soundgarden, AIC, Pearl Jam, STP, Smashing Pumpkins, NIN and finally a ton of bands I could relate to......rockers that didn't where more make up than the hooker on the corner, that made music that touched a nerve (in a good way) . Then by the end of the decade music became such a mass market coorprate crap bag that it still is today (although there are still great bands out today), for the most part I still listen to the music I grew up on So to answer your Q in short I can't really choose the 80's or the 90's the time period I enjoy the most is 86-96

The 80's came with music that had edge and experimentation written all over it! It really changed the way we looked at music today.
The 90's brought music that has personally put a smile on my face and made me feel nostalgic inside. Both decades win, in my opinion.

80's!!!! More classic music came out in 1983 -1986 than in all of the 90's put together.
