A file is a file, no matter if it was transfered from a cd or anywhere else. A clean legitimate file is a clean file, a virus laden file is a virus laden file, no matter what the source or how it was transported.
I would not consider ANY file from limewire safe unless I personally did all the things necessary. P2P is NOT free music, you do NOT own the licnse to use that song. P2P is NOT for beginners, it is supposed to be used by knowledgable, responsible high end computer users. Many of us in the industry consider limewire irresponsible because it purposely markets itself to the naieve

first i would suggest sotring all downloaded songs into your temporary folders. Then scan the songs for viruses prior to moving them to your music files. If the song downloaded includes a virus or spyware it will be in the download also so you should never place anything on your hard drive before you scan the file. Having said that, if you already have made a cd and want to transfer it to your harddrive, I would suggest scanning the CD prior to transferring it to your hard drive and of course you need to ask yourself is saving 99c on buying the song worth the risk of having to reformat your new system
