i wondering if any one has thought of the problems with job restrictions, if you are a felon you automated can not work there, i your credit check comes back bad you cant get hired or promoted, if companies wont hire a felon, where do they go from there, i have had a lot of appications, where people have felonies, and the company will not let me hire them, what happen to trying to help people here, yes they did do wrong, but if they have payed for what they did, and have a clean record since that felon, why not give them a chance

OK...I'm desperately trying to understand the "frustration" here! Are we talking about YOU? If you are a convicted felon who's attempting to do the right thing...then I applaud your efforts.
The unfortunate part about people making mistakes in life is how they don't think of the ramifications BEFORE they decide to break the laws.
Not saying what the felony conviction is would certainly make me wonder as to why a convicted felon was not considered for a position of employment. As a banker I seriously doubt I would consider a convicted felon who robbed banks. As an airlines company I seriously doubt I would consider a convicted felon who was convicted due to use of addicting drugs or alcohol.
You have to remember that companies are all about making money. If you spend more money paying off liabilities because your employees are making bad products...then why hire a potential liability to start with?!
Yes....I agree that you can change and learn from your mistakes! But this is the way business is! Someone convicted of a felony can't say they can't get a job...because there are people hiring all the time...just maybe not the banker postition they'd LIKE to get...but they're available!
Best wishes.

There are many companies that will not hire you based on even a class B misdameanor conviction. Some places will have a standard two year "waiting" period i suppose to give you time to stay straight. Equivalent or more serious charges are taken by many people every day for being in the wrong place at the wrong time and not being able to afford an attorney to simply assure their rights are being protected and arent simply used to up the conviction rate for the state. Hiring personnel should be given the personal choice on ANY idividual's hiring status, not just a corporate placed automatic impersonal decision.

the system isn't right. i think that the biggest part of that is the fact that the people are the the ones that really pay a role in that field. the way i see it, is that if those people don't have to worry about felons then they have a bigger workforce to network. also whats the saying? once a felons always a felons. which by the way i don't agree with that. i do believe that people can change for the better.

GIVE them a chance? They HAD the same chance as others, but for whatever reason, they decided to commit some crime. Now, IF you own a company, you are free to hire anybody you choose; since your employer chooses not to hire felons; felons don't work there. As for their record, that IS part of the price you pay when you violate laws.

Well, that's a good case of - Too Bad.
You made your choices when you committed the felony. Now you are paying your dues for it.
A person with a felony conviction is considered to be untrustworthy and a person of low-character.
Set your sights a little lower...try a menial job and prove yourself...then try for a job a little higher up the earnings ladder with a good reference from your previous employer.
You can't expect to start where others without a felony do.

Companies under equal employment opportunity law cannot deny employment based solely on a felony conviction. So if your company is doing this you are obligated to report them to the Labor Department

My wife does state disability psychological testing, and she has had a number of folks apply for disability that were convicted murderers who had been released, but could never find a job. This is a real problem, but its pretty tough to resolve, I mean, how/why do you force a company to hire a convicted murderer, even if they have paid their price?

There are many companies who do hire felons. It depends on the crime, etc.

It would depend on the crime, I think. I wouldn't want a thief or a violent criminal working for me. And I can't blame anyone who doesn't hire them. We all have that chance to do the right thing or the wrong thing.
