Absolutely!
Actually the "dual nature" of a pair of socks is an excellent example of mathematical entropy...The chances of your socks staying together is very slim indeed, especially since they lack a will of their own, (that we know of, I sometimes wonder if they don't resent getting stuck with "one partner for life," as every-one knows that socks are notoriously polygamous, and will roll up or tangle with anything elastic enough to satisfy their unwholesome urge to be "filled.")
If you have 20 pairs of socks and one of them goes AWOL, the chances that the next sock lost will be form the same pair is astronomical...I once consolidated all my remaining socks and found that I had 23 socks total...and SEVENTEEN DIFFERENT KINDS of socks! That means only 3 pair matched! And that was only because they were the most generic tubes imaginable....Realistically, they weren't likely to be with their "original" partners either!

Yes, and some of my socks thought they were with the right partner and it turns out they only resembled their 'other half'. How devasting it must have been when the one sock realised the other one had been living a lie.

Yes ... but here is an idea ... a friend of mine uses her longer socks as a heating pad. She fills it with rice, ties the end and puts it in the micro for a couple of mintues (can't remember how long) and then lays it on the back of her neck. Works like a charm.

yes, and i found out where they go. When my washing machine broke down the repair man removed the thing in the center that agitates the washing, and there in the hole that the water drains from were four socks clogging up the works!

Why, yes I do!! I just moved to my sister's house only since 5/11/07 and lo and behold BOOM - I'm missing partners to my sockies already!! How DOES that work????? I think socks have the same mentality as govt. refunds - I'm hiding - never to return - and you can't find me!!

Sure do. My wife and I have a sack-o-socks. We are upwards of 47 matchless socks at the moment.
