it doesn't matter if i have a program up, or IE, or mozilla. i can't even right click on my icons at the desktop or when i'm writing anymore.

i had this problem once before & i rebooted the computer from a previous timestamp. it worked briefly.

i tried it this time around, & have had no success. the mouse works fine & i clean it frequently.

any advice for me people?

[that doesn't include pitching the thing out the window]

Go to start, open your control panel, and choose device manager.

Click on "Mice and other pointing devices" and double click your mouse on the pop down list.

Go to the driver tab and click update driver. Then choose for the computer to search automatically.

Restart the computer and see if this works. If it doesn't, try clicking roll back as many times as you can while on the driver tab. Restart and test.

Hope this works for ya!

Since you said that you can't "pitch the thing out the window," then try incinerating it, if the above doesn't work :-))

Hi. I would remove and reseat the mouse cable. There is a micro switch inside the mouse for each button and a dog hair or dust is enough to prevent contact is some cases.

looks like the right switch on your mouse is already broken, try to check it here.

open control panel
open mouse icon
on the button configuration switch from right handed to left handed or which ever, as long as the blue colored highlight on the mouse figure is on the right side.
click apply only
on the jack-in-the-box, test your right click,
if it does not respond you need to buy a new mouse unfortunately

Have you tried another mouse? I mean, just because you keep it clean, and you think it works, does not make it so. Make sure it's not the hardware first.. Try your mouse on another computer too, just to make sure.
