Why would a creditor refuse payment.

There are two reasons a creditor might refuse payment. first and most likely is the debt has been turned over to a collection agency in which case all funds to settle the debt must go through them. Second and least likely is they want all of their money at once.

I don't think you are telling the whole story

If you defaulted on your payments and the company declared the entire amount due and payable... then offering to make a payment will NOT free you from the obligation to PAY that bill.

The company is within their rights to refuse a PARTIAL payment once they have declared the entire amount due and payable.. they no longer are required by law to accept any payment other than for the entire amount.

If they signed the refusal and you have it, in some states you can claim the bill paid in full but everything has to be just perfect. You must have that signed refusal.

Usually they only refuse payment if you are delinquent and they have demanded payment in full, you need to add to your question.

Addendum... call them up and discuss it with a supervisor. Tell them of your arrangement.

Is it a creditor in bankruptcy? Is your creditor stating that they want either the ENTIRE payment or no payment at all? More facts please!

Maybe you have had the checks bounce. And they do not trust you.
