Some theories in theoretical physics suggest that our universe may lie in some higher dimensional space. It is therefore plausible that our univers is not unique, but part of a vast sea of universes contained within this higher dimensional space. One such a theory that incorporates these types of ideas is string theory.
It is unlikely we will ever be able to prove these kinds of ideas, but they offer explanations to currently unexplainable phenomena in our universe. (Like the weakness of gravity)
On the other hand, theologians might argue that heaven/hell lie outside of the universe.
A key point to remember is that the actual dimensions of space are expanding. Because they are by nature, a dimensional membrane, they don't require anything to expand into. The answer may be they are expanding into a realm outside of space and time, also know as NOTHING.
Bottom Line: The answer to your question is outside the realm of science. We and the four forces are confined to our universe. The laws of physics need only hold true for our universe..
By the way the people who aswered EMPTY SPACE are mistaken. The boundries of our universe are defined by 3-D space itself! Our Universe can not be expanding into empty 3 D space. It is either expanding into a higher dimensional membrane or into something outside the realm of space and time.

Empty space, I'd assume. Or an infinitely large number of other universes There has to be a border to the universe, but logically, everything outside and including the universe must add up to an infinite amount of space

The universe is not expanding into anything we can easily understand, since space is a property of the universe itself and it is this 'space' between objects in the universe that is expanding.
True, some physics theories suuggest that the universe is expanding into some higher (greater than 3) dimensional structure, but we would find this impossible to conceptualize since our brains work in 3 dimensions.
The truth of the answer is that we don't yet know, but it is not 'space' as contained in the universe.
Maths allows us to get some flavour of this, but the richness of it is lost in our neural wiring!

"Universe is infinite" is not an answer." Well then, how about it's expanding into itself (since there are an infinite number of proper subsets of an infinite set that are, themselves, infinite âº)
If you dont like those, then you're just out of luck. Make up something that pleases you. But don't try to sell it to anyone who knows better. They'll laugh at you.

Nothing. There is nothing outside the universe so thats what it is expanding into sounds whack but thats true. If you can visualize it let me know cos i sure as hell cant.

Nothing...it's hard to imagine as it outside our normal experience, but a lot of thngs in science are. Quantum Physics makes no logical sense at all, but it works and ya gotta go with what works.
