if one of the ink cartridges is empty them it won't let me print anything. even if i dont need the color from that cartridge.
(it's epson R260 printer with 6 different catridges-5 colors and one black)
yeah i think this is the problem... is there any way around it?
my black ink is the one that is out. so i tried making the font like a really dark blue. and it's just not doing anything.
would there be any other way to print other than buying a new cartridge?
thanks.

The thing is printers use all the cartridges to make the colors they need which is why its refusing the print. As for the issue with black text, most printers will warn you about the ink then wait for you to either change the ink cartridge or push the resume buttom on the printer, its usually rite next to the power button. If that doesnt help i'd recommend checking epsons website for detailed info on your specific model.

First step is to see will if it print a test page Go to Start, settings, printers. Right click on the printer, properties, print test page. If that doesn't work there should be a head cleaning option in properties that will make it clean the print heads. If there is still nothing after that then either it’s badly clogged, low or out of ink, and needs to be replaced

nope there is no way around it, and even though you think you are just printing in on colour, you are not. All 6 colours are needed during regular printing to make your color tones true. The ink also acts as a coolant in the print head preventing it from warping or fusing.

You need to buy a new cartridge.

try ezink.com

sometimes the cheap ink works

or just buy a new ink cartridge (usually about the same price as the printer was)

Unfortunately, there is no way around it. Replace the cartridge.

I'm not sure if it is just Epson having this problem or if all printers have this annoying little issue.

I have had that same problem....But dont throw away that empty cartridge. You can buy refills for the cartridges, and they are alot cheaper. You should look around on eBay, I see refills on there all the time.
