I’m looking for something other than a red tie! I’d like to get my dad a nice gift for all his help and guidance over the years.

Here is the best gift you can give him. Write him a heartfelt letter telling him about all that help he gave you and the guidance he offered. Let him know exactly what he means to you. This will be worth more to him than any one thing you could buy him. I know. I'm a dad.

Anything that "goes" makes a great toy for a guy. Remote controlled airplanes, boats cars and such. If you can get one made full scale, that is even cooler. Model rocketry is a revived hobby that is really fun. Lost more interest since the Ansari Prize came around.

Is he a NASA/sci-fi fan? You can get him a ride into space from the Cosmodrome, or buy him a future flight on Virgin Galactic.

One of my dreams is an antique aircraft that has been restored, like a WWII era p-51 mustang.

Always a good bet is a trip to some far away place that he has not seen yet, combined with either a humanitarian or ecological purpose.

Or a guided adventure tour...into the jungles of South America or the African Svannah. Most guys dig a mild adventure that is not too tough on the physique.

Or buy/build him something ridiculous, like a biodiesel plant in PA, a Finger Lakes NY vineyard, or a NJ shopping mall close to Bedminster. What has he been thinking about getting into, but hasn't quite had the time to pursue? A new hobby is always nice.

Good luck, Ivanka. I know Father's Day is passed, but maybe you can use one of these suggestions for a future gift.

Your dad (Mr. Trump) would be the hardest person to get anything for because he has everything. The 1 thing I would say makes the best gift is not something you buy in the store but something that comes from you. What I mean is something you make or put together. I'll give you an example: for Mothers Day I made my mom an album. I was made up of pictures from when I was a baby all the way up till now & on the very last page I wrote her a note from the heart. Telling her how glad I am shes my mom, about all shes done over the years & so on & so on. Sure they have looked through the albums before but its 1 that you made & its has your own type of style and little things here & there that only you could add to it through your personality. A 1 of a kind. It could never be that could never be duplicated . You know what I mean. Thats a perfect gift to me. Either way just saying Happy Fathers Day, even if there out or not there or you have to make a phone call, & being there with him will make that Fathers Day and everyone to follow it a good one!! P.S.-- PARENTS KNOW THAT YOU LOVE THEM BUT ITS ALWAYS GOOD TO LET THEM KNOW IT EVERY ONCE & AWHILE

As a dad myself there are times when I want the red tie. There are times when I would rather spend time with my children and my wife than to receive something that I know they have spent every last scrimped and saved penny they have earned to get. Honestly, the present must come from the heart. It must reflect what you feel the most about the father.

One of the most heartwarming presents I have received was a little 3" trophy that said "World's #1 Dad." from my then one year old. It still sits on my desk at work, and he is now almost six years old. It was a very special time for me as I had just became a dad (he was the first of three children) and I really was trying my best to be "the dad" that I felt that my father wasn't.

For the Dad that just seems to have everything, how about a collage of pictures that show the events that you and he have been to or done over the last year? A good scrap book that is prepared by you will give him lasting memories into future years. It will be something that both you and he can enjoy. Don't stop with just a scrapbook though. You can do this with just about anything. There are many programs available that allow you to make presentations and you can make a DVD compilation as well.

Just my thought. Enjoy your father on his special day.

Dear Miss. Ivanka Trump,
I would suggest making a little scrapbook of you and your dad from when you were little to now that you've grown up. Put in your highlights or maybe find an old picture you drew and stick it in there. This is something your father will remember forever not a car, or a rolex watch but sometihng that shows how much your father and the time he's spent with you means to you. In the scrapbook you should have poems, drawings pictures and you can add your own captions here and there. After that you may want to take him out to brunch or dinner and then give the scrapbook to him! I'm positive he'll love it and I'm sure it's a memory that he'll treasure always! At the end you can even stick a little card saying "Happy Father's Day Dad!" and it'll make it more memorable (if that were possible!). I wish you the best of luck and I hope you find or make a great gift for your dad! I know how special dads can be.
Sincerely,
Rochelle

First of all if he needs help and guidance etc.... u can do a play on that and give him something like a GPS.

Or If u want to be more sentimental then You can give him an Album of photos of You, him, and the rest of ur family. If u want to be really cute, Use a recording allbum so u can record what u want to say for every picture. (i.e remember this? or remember when ______ happened?)

Maybe u can give him a huge cake with a red tie on it made a fondent. Or one with a pic of him on tv in a tv looking cake.

Back to the pics idea, u can also make him a slideshow on the computer is quick, and easy, plus if done right can come out looking awesome. If u dont have time ask someone else to do it for u and u can just give the pictures.Plus u can write captions for each picture as well.

U can also always go online and browse through gift ideas see if he likes anything, or if itd remind u of something he likes.

Another idea can be getting him a swarovski crystal of some sort, in a shape of some sort of family private joke etc. or get him the classic car.

Hope these tips helped u, if not good luck in finding a gift!!

Well, now that Father's Day is over until next year, I'm thinking that my response is a little too late. So why is this question still open for answers?
OK, here's my answer:
These days, gift giving has evolved greatly since giving dad a tie became routine. I've noticed that, when I go shopping for a gift for someone, I'm amazed at how unique the gifts are out there, that I could buy for someone. Everything from artisans associated with state craft guilds or individual galleries, to vendors that specialize in creating gifts specifically for dad. So that's my first suggestion. Think of the person you are buying for, you could spend a few days, or even weeks in advance in the thinking process, and then go out and let your intuition guide you. You might get discouraged at first or at some point in the process, but then, suddenly, something will catch your eye, and you'll say, THAT'S IT!!!!!!!!! You'll find something really different and unique, but something about it says," That item says 'my dad' dad all over it."
Another important aspect of gift giving is relating the gift to the person. Does your dad collect anything or have any hobbies or things he does in his spare time that are important to him? Also, what kind of gifts does he really enjoy receiving? Think about his past, sometime in his past that was an enjoyable time for him. All these questions and ideas can give you some great ideas.
My third and last suggestion has to do with what your dad is passionate about and what he spends a lot of time doing. If I were in your shoes, Ivanka, I would consider the fact that it seems like your dad has been doing a lot lately to help others realize their dreams and build their self confidence. I would look for solid evidence that someone out there has directly listened to your dad's advice, been positively affected by it, and has gone on to create something great because of your dad's influence. Perhaps they have even created something that would be a great gift for dad!?!?!?!?
Well, that about covers it. I haven't mentioned anything specific, because only you know your dad better than anyone, but I have given some great leads that have always allowed me to find that perfect gift. And the perfect gift is a gift that allows you to become closer to those you love, to discover important things that you never knew about your loved ones, and to create a stronger bond of love that allows the feelings and thoughts flow more freely.
So good luck in your search for gifts a little more interesting than that "red tie". Christmas is coming soon!!! I hope this year's Father's Day was memorable for you and your dad.

Father's day was yesterday. Anyway here are some ideas that u might want to consider:

Life is short and no one will know what will happen the next second. Hence, the best gift is to spend more time with your dad. Not only on father's day, it is pathetic as most only try to buy a gift or take one's dad out for a meal on father's day.

1) Do somethings that u and your dad used to do when you were a kid. Maybe there was this fishing trip that both of you never get to go? etc.

2) With the wealth that u have u can virtually do anything for him. So cook him a meal, go grocery shopping with him?

3) Or just wrap I Love You Dad (your own hand writing) in a box for him.

It really depends what kind a person your dad is.....

As a father I know what its like to get a crappy Fathers day Gift, thank God I'm not a tie guy. Almost every man loves a good time piece it's something they can put good use and enjoy. Some people suggest giving out gift cards, let me be the first to tell you I still have a Macy's gift card from more than 5 years ago the card was for twenty dollars, for the record there are not alot of things available at Macy's for under twenty dollars. It seems no one ever tries to take dad to a nice restaurant on fathers day, that's a good option. But if you have alot of money to spend may I suggest you send your father on a three day or more cruise.

I think the best gifts are the ones that a daughter and father can both share together, which usually means a day out, and not an actual present. Last year, my father and I went to the gun range (even though guns aren't really my thing, he is somewhat of a hobbyist), and this year I am going on a ride-along with him on an ambulance because he is a paramedic. I think gifts such as these are the most special because they are the ones that you can't find in any store and they are the most personal. Sure a tie will last a lot longer than a one-day excursion, but it's the thought that counts, right? And for those super busy mogul-type fathers out there, a day out with dad doesn't have to be on fathers day either, but whenever it can be worked into the schedule.

Dear Ivanka,
Yes, it must be very difficult... After all, what do you give to a Person that has it all?!
Due to the fact that your Dad must have everything I would suggest you present him with a nice Photo Album. Something like Him and You (the Children) through the years, so he can see and know how you have grown and blossomed under his care.
I am not sure, if you would have the time to get this organized at this point, so just get him the Red Tie (for now) and tell him that the real one is in the making. I am almost positive that even a day or two late this gift will warm his hearth.
Hope you have a great time at Fathers Day!
Sincerely yours,
Sasha
