Until the late 1800's, the Catholic Church, the gold standard for such thhings declared a fetus became a 'person' at the 'quickening'...about four months when the mother felt the baby move. The called this the 'ensoulment', or when the 'soul' entered the body. Prior to the quickening abortion wasn't questioned at any level or for any reason. The idea that the 'soul' enters the body the moment the sperm wiggles into the egg is early 20th century...about the same time that the church decided that contraception was a mortal sin. How the 'church' figured this out is still a mystery though it did happen about the same time the church declared that the Pope was infalible in 'faith and morals'.

"Fetus" is one of several age-related stages of development that creatures go through before they're born. Zygote, which occurs at the point of conception. Blastocyst, which is the period between conception and the embryonic stage. Embryo, starting three weeks after conception and ending at the end of the 8th week of pregnancy. Fetus, from the 8th week of pregnancy until birth.

Once born, there is neonate (0-30 days old), infant (1 month to 1 year), toddler (1 year to 4 years), and so on.

"Unborn child" is not a scientific term. So to ask when a "fetus" (scientific term) becomes an "unborn child" is a question that cannot be answered.

A fetus is ALWAYS an unborn child. It's like asking when a puppy becomes a dog. The dog was once a puppy but ALWAYS a dog.

It is an unborn person before it is a fetus. At conception, like it or not, genetically it is a human being.

There's a spark in the brain at a magic moment when the fetus commits his first sin. That's when his soul is condemned and he wants to go to heaven he must be born again.
