Try this

And be more careful about what you're downloading next time. What you have is not a virus, as such.

At very least turn on your XP firewall and popup stopper.. At best use something like Zonealarm plus Winpatrol (both can be downloaded free)

I have a site that should interest you, aimed at clearing trojans and viruses. It is a new, a work in progress, but has already helped a number of people here on Yahoo Answers in the week it's been open.

I could give you all the standard links - Ad-Aware etc, but there are in detail there. They are also simple step by step guides to clearing infections.

Enjoy and holler if you need help, you can reach me here via IM, or via email on the site, or a forum :)

First , Lou, do you have any pop up blockers, I.E. Google Toolbar, Yahoo! Toolbar. Second, what antivirus softwre are you running?

If you have none, head over to http://free.grisoft.com and pick up a copy of AVG Antivirus Free, it's very good and well worth the download.

If you need more advice email me at hughfraserlarne@yahoo.co.uk

Best of luck.

You can run a free online scan from CA.
http://www3.ca.com/securityadvisor/virusinfo/scan.aspx

Run Spybot and Adaware weekly.

Download, update and run Spybot---http://www.safer-networking.org/... . Don't forget to use the Immunize feature.

Download, update and run Adaware---http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaw...

Now to prevent spyware from being installed in the first place....

Download SpywareBlaster---http://majorgeeks.com/download2859.html
SpywareBlaster doesn't scan and clean for spyware - it prevents it from ever being installed.

It's main features include:
- Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests.
- Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox.
- Restrict the actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer.

Download superantispyware and run in safe mode. Will remove all spyware, adware, trojans, viruses and anything else that shouldn't be there.Trust me it works,i use it all the time and it keeps my p.c. running as it should.Remember superantispyware only removes nasties,so you will need something like AVG to protect your system.

Antivirus products are good, but like the cops, they cant prevent everything, nor can they solve anything. My recommendation is to reinstall the operating system

In addition to a firewall you must have full time (active) virus protection and full time spyware protection.

All the following programs are free.
---------------------------------------------
Full Time (Active) Virus Protection
If you do not have active virus protection, install only one. All are excellent.
Try AVG first.

AVG Antivirus 7.5 Free Edition

Windows Defender

Install the following five programs and run weekly or at least monthly. You need all five. They will greatly increase your protection. They are not a substitute for full time spyware and virus protection.

Ad-Aware SE Personal (update + full scan)

Spybot Search & Destroy (update + immunize + scan)
Do not enable Tea Timer and SDHelper
After installation: update + scan + immunize

SpywareBlaster: Update then open and click “enable all protection”.
