if so , why havent they stopped producing pentium chips yet? and if not, why is it so hard to buy a computer with a pentium chip anymore? if it isnt intended to replace pentium then will there be a pentium 5? and most importantly of all WHATS TAKING AMD SO LONG TO MAKE A RESPONSE CHIP!?!??!?!?!?!??!??!?!???!?!??!?!?!?!?

Yes, the Core 2 Duo is already established as the signature processor. However, there are still lots of Pentium-D based systems in stock that retailers wish to sell off.

AMD's response has been drastic price cuts.

well i hear that the name 'Pentium' is going to be used for lower end chips now. the Pentium D was really its last moment at the top. as for AMD? well there finally getting a quad core but it doesnt matter there just isnt a reason to buy AMD anymore intel is just too far ahead (there going to have 45nm chips soon)
