Usually about 10 weeks, sometimes sooner. Some doctors or PA's won't even look for one before 10 weeks because if they can't pick it up it causes too much anxiety in the expectant mother. Congrats on the pregnancy and just try to be patient.

Around week 12 is when the doctor will start looking for a heartbeat. You can see it on an ultrasound but not hear now if the baby is in a good position.

at 8 weeks, the doc can see it in a sonogram--at 12 weeks he can hear it with a Doppler. At about 20 weeks, you can start hearing it through a stethoscope. Congrats!

Commonly the 12th wk. Some may be a little earlier or a little later depending on the babys position and machine used.

Usually around 12 weeks. What's really cool is sometimes you can hear it through a regular stethoscope around 20wks or later.

I think the first dr. appt I had where I could hear the heart beat I was 10 weeks along. That was for both my son and this time with my daughter. :)
