Guys, Guys, ease the panic.
This is obviously a new PC, since it has Win Vista on it.
According to the OEM licence for Windows Vista, you can downgrade (meaning go back to XP) for no money.
Take it back to where you bought it and tell them that you prefer XP Pro, and they are obligated to load it for you.
They may charge you a loading fee, but the software is already licensed.

You go out and buy a retail copy of Windows XP either home pro or media center and put the disc in and restart the computer. Boot to the cd and follow the steps. Once it gets to the screen where it asks you which partition you want to install it to you need to hit the letter D then Enter then L to delete the partition with Vista on it. Then you need to select the unallocated space hitting enter then format it with NTFS and Windows XP will install. Good Luck HTH.

in case you have already got 2GB, yet your processor is lacking, then extra memory will, maximum probable, not make a remarkable difference. you may often discover copies of residing house windows XP on Amazon or eBay - basically basically be sure you're paying for from a depended on broking and that there is an (unused) product key with it. i might believe you inspite of the shown fact that, residing house windows XP may well be the suitable determination to your laptop. as quickly as you have the disk, that is basically a case of sticking it in, beginning the laptop up, and selecting to re-format the force and set up XP. *BACKUP all your substantial information earlier DOING THIS*. once you install residing house windows XP, you wipe the completed hard force alongside with all your information. you commence lower back on a "sparkling slate".

You can't. The hardware inside of the computer is designed for Vista and Vista only. If you were to reformat the harddrive and install Xp, none of the components would work.

If it's a new laptop - XP probably won't run on it - Never had any trouble with Vista to be honest - had loads of crashes with XP - NONE with Vista.
