Lombok is like what Bali used to be 10 years ago, Nice beaches good food and the roads are good for traveling. Lombok is a little different to Bali but well worth a visit. Sengigi is the normal place for tourist to stay there a a range of cheap good hotels there

There's bunch of friends will fly to Lombok in July - maybe you can join with them :)
Lombok is a nice island - maybe better than Bali.
If you like relax and quite place and beautiful - Lombok is a good choice.
There are fewer travellers than are found in many of the better-known provinces in the archipelago, the beaches are pristine, the volcanic mountain scenery is spectacular.
We start in Bali, in lively Legian. From here we catch the ferry the next morning to Lombok. Our first port of call is Kuta (the Lombok version)) where we spend time soaking up the sun on beautiful sandy beaches. Next we journey north to explore the region dominated by the mighty Rinjani Volcano. The trekking in this area is superb, and the atmosphere very relaxing. We then travel around Rinjani and head to the west coast where we spend a couple of days in Senggigi with its wonderful beaches and take a trip to the beautiful Gili Islands

Try Nusa Lembognan instead. No cars allowed on the island. Guest houses are cheap. The surfing and diving is great. Its closer and cheaper that going to Lombok. and it reminds me of Kuta and Legian 30 years ago. Its like old Bali. Check it out.

Nice place, yes...but the Gili islands are much better.
