If anyone can help me out please, I would be extremely grateful. I'm getting really fed up now either having to leave the comp running or turning it right off.
In 'easy talk' would be appreciated aswell as im not very good at these things.
Thanks in advance

If this is a desktop turn off the computer and power up and hold F8 key and go to Safe mode and see does it make any diffrenence. If it is a laptop do the same but when power of also remove the battery so no power at all will be and restart and hold F8 go in safe mode and see what is happening it may work.

You probably have a program running in the background that won't release control of the PC. Have you installed new software? If so look at the options and see if there is any way to ensure it closes completely. Otherwise you should do a comprehensive check for malware that may have sneaked onto your system

The computer won't go on stand by mode if you don't have the proper video drivers loaded.
Try installing your video card drivers and you should be able to make it go on stand by.
