Well, I listen to Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly, and Sean Hannity (though I think Sean is a bit of a drama queen), and I read Ann Coulters books and love them. Guess that puts me on your list of mean people. I have a question, since when is our job (conservatives) to make you feel good? Or to protect your feelings? No one makes you listen to these people, or make you read their books, so what is the problem?
If I worried about what the Rosie O's of the world thought about Christains or Conservatives I'd be on medication by now!!!

I think what it boils down to is that your "feelings" play ZERO role in the logical validity of an argument. How people feel about an issue has no relevance to the inherent rightness or wrongness of any subsequent policy. People disregard other people's feelings because, to be honest, they don't matter. People say that Libertarians are cold blooded, and how would I feel if I had three kids and no job and my husband ran away and now this mean ol' Libertarian wants to take away my welfare? That's nothing but an appeal to emotion, which negates the argument. It doesn't matter how you feel. It doesn't matter how I feel. What matters is that policies are just and logically derived from the underlying social ethics. The definition of just may be up for debate, but leave the emotion out of it. It just doesn't matter. Having said that, the people mentioned in your example do so because they have a product to sell, and nothing sells like sensationalism. Tell people what they want to hear, tell it loud, and get 'em whipped up against that devil!
Oh, and how do you think Rush felt when he saw Al Franken's book, "Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot?" That's a hateful, personal attack on someone WHO DOESN'T EVEN HOLD OFFICE!

As a conservative who supports some of what the people you named stand for, I would like to say that feelings come and feelings go. If I or any other person wants you to change your way of thinking, then it is going to take some toe steppin on since you would never change otherwise. Although I rarely mention it, my feelings are hurt every time a liberal says "the American people want..." or "the American people need..." since no Democrats have ever asked me what I want. Why would I ever be a Democrat? I would go to a Democrat restaurant and be told where to sit, what I am eating, what I am drinking, and that I will be paying for both my meal and the table next to me as well (his grandfather was from Mexico). I would prefer a conservative restaurant that would allow me to sit where I wish, eat what I like, drink as I like, and charge me for what I have eaten--nothing more or less. I realize that this would not be a Republican restaurant, but I did say I support only some of the stuff these loud-mouths say. 15 years ago, I would have had completely different feelings. This country doesn't need someone to tell them that we can all agree to disagree. This country needs people with conviction who realize that standing up for beliefs will alienate many, but do it any way.

One small, but significant correction. Conservatives usually disregard dishonesty, spin, and ignorance. Also, "feelings" are pretty useless in that they don't accomplish anything besides making the "feeler" feel good about them- selves. Conservatives such as those you mention sometimes use subtle humor to expose dishonesty, spin and ignorance. That's why Limbaugh is the top radio host in America and has been for years, Coulter is one of the most widely read and respected colmnists in America, and FOX is the most popular news outlet in America.
People who are into "feelings" need to stick to Oprah and the "Hilton News Center"

Since when are people supposed to live their lives so that no one gets their feelings hurt? Anyone offended by those you named need to get backbones.
There's a well-known saying... "Conservatives think, liberals feel." Libs just do what feels good, and conservatives think about what is the right thing to do.

As a conservative I can say I honestly don't care about peoples feelings on most issues because there are things a LOT more important than what people feel.

A) That's a pretty bold generalization to make...
B) ...especially since you point to no direct evidence, and
C) how often do you really listen to any of those shows to know?
I mean, I'll nswer your question if you rephrase it, but right now, you're just looking for justification of your opinion.

They DON'T!
They do consider them secondary to what is LOGICAL.
Feelings are emotions and they are controlled by chemicals in your body secreted as the result of a variety of stimulants.
Logic is based on thought and inspired by wisdom and experience!
THINK don't just EMOTE!
IF YOU THINK, YOU WILL BECOME CONSERVATIVE.
