There is good and bad in every state. Colorado sounds like your best bet. Pretty cold in the mountains, but Colo. Springs is very nice. Northern Ariz., Santa Fe, New Mexico, Northern Calif., Washington and Or. are really nice. People are pretty much the same everywhere. If you are friendly and treat them well you will be treated the same way. All of these places have low humidity, pretty warm summers and mild winters. Hope you find someplace and people you love.

Similar people, perhaps not. Everyone considers Texas a planet of its own.

Not smart ***. I have many friends from Texas that tell me that. And while there are southern people in southern states, Texas is a world of its own. I live in SC and while the people are cordial, they are not necessarily friendly. GA people are friendly, but can be a bit rude. I've never had these issues w/ people from Texas. Not to mention that the weather in Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Florida, Georgia and South Carolina aren't much better. As a matter of fact, when I hear people complain about humidity Texas doesn't normally enter the conversation.

A thought just occurred to me. I've heard good things about Chattanooga, TN??

Oh, just reading some other answers. If you look into VA, stay out of northern VA. Southern very nice, people, places, etc. Northern VA is NOT the south anymore.

I been as far as Canada in the summer and it was still hot to me. I been thinking of the Netherlands for summer. They seem to have a nice climate, at least around the ocean. Or maybe Greenland. I been told Alaska bad for bugs, maybe an Alaskan can give us some info.
When I lived in Texas it was nice and I found a good A/C helped.

Stay in Texas and get a good air conditioner.

You won't get along with "other" people with your attitude.
