I've heard the the TYR brand swimsuits last longer because they are made out of the nylon/lycra blend instead of all lycra so I'm guessing that they do last longer. Has anybody had expernice with these swimsuits, and how long do they last? Where can I buy them for about $30 or less? Thanks!

I'm in the water 5 days a week for 90 minutes each time. I have been using the Speedo ones which have been streching out within the first week that I use them, and then they just get thin and see through within another few swims. I have a team swimsuit which I wear for competition which my coach has ordered and they are the TYR brand because we don't have a choice what brand we have for our team swimsuit. I currently have a TYR one that a I bought for $40, and my mom would like to get them cheaper, and I have been using it and so far it hasn't lost any color or elasticity.

I wear TYR whenever possible and will ONLY race in a TYR suit given the option. I even use TYR Multi-sport gear for triathlon. I had the same problem with Speedo and TYR are MUCH more reliable, last a LOT longer and are MUCH more comfortable than Speedo suits. They hold up forever!!!

As for getting them cheap, try clearance at www.kiefer.com or www.tyr.com. however, TYR suits are worth paying a little more for.

Good luck!

yes but speedo has some swimsuits made with this fabric too. as well as other brands. personally though I like some of TYR produces but I don't like the fit of there swimsuits. this fabric is great I have had a swimsuit scene march. I'm in the water 3 day every day. so it gets used a lot (and I wonder why my hair is fried?) the colors are still as bright as the day I got and it hasn't loosened up at all. this fabric has my vote. but TYR doesn't sorry.

Ice:

I used to have the same problem. But, let's look at this from another angle.

I recommend that you thoroughly rinse off your suits each & every day. Also, DO NOT hang your suit in the sun! The sun can ruin a swim suit, whether it be speedo, TYR, or whatever, faster than you can see white on rice.

Now that I thoroughly rinse out my speedos, they last a very long time - maybe six months!

Aloha & keep swimming!

I've used TYR and Speedo and Speedo defiantly gets my vote. TYR seems to keep its color for quite a bit of time but it always seemed to stretch out really quick. TYR suits aren't bad if your planning on using them just for practice but for competition I would use another brand. Speedo just seemed to keep its shape better and I think it had a better fit. I get my suits at this place called CAS (competitive aquatic supply) you can check their website to see if they have a store near you.

I have a few TYR suits (one pieces). There are 2 kinds, ones with smooth liners, and ones with cloth kind. The ones with the smooth liners are the most comfortable suits Ive ever worn. They give you that nice sucked-in feeling and have that really clingy, swimsuity feel to them whereas sometimes speed feels softer.
Definately try TYR suits, you'll totally love them.
