I didn't realize I was like 2 months pregnant and I dyed my hair myself at home. When I found out later that I was pregnant it was one of the first things I told my doctor. She laughed at me, asked me if I had put a bag over my head and breathed in the concentrated fumes till I passed out. I of course looked at her like she was nuts but then she said, that's about the only way you could really ingest enough of the fumes to cause a reason for concern. Since I don't work in a beauty salon and am not exposed to the fumes all the time, the short 30 minutes in a well ventilated area while I colored my hair was fine.
Highlights are even less dangerous so you are fine honey. Congratulations on the pregnancy!!

I doubt it.
It's just a precaution. Truth is, no study has ever been done in regards to perms/highlights/relaxers in relation to pregnancy and possible birth defects.
So since no one really knows, they say don't do it.
You've done it once. If you are truly concerned I would not do it again if I were you.
If I were ME (which in this case I am), I'd wear a little surgical mask the next time I got my hair permed/highlighted/relaxed. Just in case.
Because it's the FUMES that carry the possiblity of a problem.
Not the act itself.

I had asked my doctor the same thing. You should be fine and so is your baby. Just wait to dye again until your little one is born to be on the safe side.
