I guess I'm just trying to see how many serious homophobes there are out there.

If we had a gay leader kids would be influenced to become like him?
Seriously now, how many kids say, "I wanna be just like President Bush!"

For Maggie LeMasters.....to be fair, yeah, I'm sure there's a couple kids out there who care enough about politics to pay attention to our president, and perhaps even adjust their thinking concerning certain issues because of him.
However, for the most part, kids are influenced by their peers and by famous people (not politicians) that include pro athletes, musicians and actors.
In my own humble opinion, I think a gay president would bring about more tolerance. Is that a bad thing?
Homosexuality is not contagious, but prejudice, discrimination, and bigotry sure seem to be.

Yes! Yes! Yes!
I really do not care in the least. What gender any president has sex with. Whether it be same sex partners or opposite sex partners. Just that they be monogamous, faithful and non-judgemental of people of the other sexual persuasions. We need to judge people less and respect each other more. Some historians have suggested we already have had a homosexual president. At least according to that presidents diary.
Its not just heterosexuals who are guilty of prejudging people of a different sexual persuasion. Homosexuals prejudge people of their own sexual persuasion. Literally making fun of gay people who are Republicans. Or do not agree with their lifestyle slogans or one liners. Also feel their are headrophobes with in certain elements or homosexual organisations. Anyone who does not agree with their lifestyle is homophobic. Not! Ask the bisexual community how they were first met by certain homosexual organisations. the same way homosexuals were first met by heterosexual organisations. The same prejudgement, sexual discrimination and so on. There is enough blame to go around for all concerned. We need to allow people to disagree, without discriminating. We all have our own sexual orientations, beliefs, preferences and so on. Yours are not any more valid then mine. Just be true to one self and stop spouting platitudes of racism. Because someone does not happen to agree with yours.
Peace!!! Love!!! No matter whether you be Homosexual, Biesexual, Headrosexual and what ever lies in between.

How would anyone know that the person is gay? Why would their sexual preference even be mentioned? As long as they don't bring it up and try to push through a bunch of laws for gays, then I don't understand why you would even ask?
If this person killed the reform for illegals bill, then that person would be representing the citizens of the United States. You better believe I would vote for that person over the person allowing terrorists, rapists, child molestors and every other type of criminal walk through our borders and then legalizing them.
On the other hand, if they were gay and behaved the way some priests do by using their power to take advantage of children, then they should go to prison like any other child molestor.
Maybe a gay president could come up with some better tax saving laws for people who share a house but are not married. There are many people living together who are not sexually involved, like brothers and sisters sharing ownership on a house on a farm to keep the family farm going. They should receive tax savings for being a "family unit". Sometimes as people get older, they move in together to split the costs since their social security and medicare are not usually enough to live on. There could be tax savings for many people who share a home to prevent energy waste from heating or cooling one home instead of two - something to help with our environment.
Bottomline, it all depends upon the values that a president offers the citizens of the country - not what they do behind closed doors when it isn't hurting anyone. It should not be made known to the public. What's the purpose?
For the record, I am not gay and am happily married with children and grandchildren. I am also a Christian. I don't understand why politics has anything to do with a persons private life unless it will affect their judgement in a leadership position.

If we want to base our election on religion, race, sexual preference, etc, we are a sad country. Plus we would need each of the candidates to pass a DNA test and a lie detecter test to determine if they have ever done anything wrong.
I want a President that is honest as much as possible especially in things that count. I want a President that can recognize good people because of their ability to get things done. I want a President that cares about the constitution and the citizens. I want a President that recognizes that other countries have rights and we are only a member of this big blue marble.

Sure, why not? Homosexuality has become accepted by society thesedays. Think about it. In the past gays were viewed as having some sort of mental disorder. Now, we just call it a personal lifestyle. Will we have a homosexual President in the near, future? Doubt it. That is probably at least 20 years away, but will happen.
However, in my own personal opinion Bush is a fag, even if he is married to a woman.

Hillary Clinton is Gay, and you won't see me running to vote for her. You know why? Because there are 3 things America isn't ready for to run for president. Gay, Colored, or any other gender than a Man This is dumb, but that is what it is.

Yes I would. Homosexuality needs to be addressed and accepted by everyone. No one should be discriminated against because of their sexual orientation, except when it involves children.

I would vote for him, why should I care what he does in the bedroom, what is important to me is what he does when he is on the job.
Maggie...Being gay is not a personal decision. What makes you attracted to the opposite sex is the same thing that makes a gay person attracted to the same sex, it is not something they have control over. Therefore the kids might be more accepting of gay folks, not that they would decide to be gay.

HAHAHA!
"Seriously now, how many kids say, "I wanna be just like President Bush!""
That made me laugh and my family looked at me like a crazy lady.
So, thanks for that.
I'd definately vote for a gay president, you don't hear many people talking about the presidents sex life, do you? No.. because it doesn't matter.
and maybe a gay president could actually get gay marraige back, it's ridiculous that they outlawed it because "in the bible it states that its a sin and men and women are TRUE couples".. I thought we weren't supposed to mix religion and state?
but yeah.. I'd vote for a gay president, it's about running the country not what gender he/she prefers to date.

Sexual orientation has no bearing on my stances, so yes, if his stances were mine, I would vote for him.
Just because someone is gay, it does not mean that they act on their homosexuality. Gay people can be totally straight, moral, God fearing Christian, Conservative patriots. There is absoutely no doubt about that.
However, no one would know whether he were gay or not, because if he were gay and his stances mirrored mine, he would be silent about it. People may wonder why he wasn't married, but he would never tell anyone he was gay and he would not express it. He would practice celibacy.

It's not just issues, it's accomplishments, leadership experience & character, but if I thought a gay candidate was the best person for the job, I would have no problem voting for that person.
