I think all three resorts are pretty good and I think you would be happy at any of them.
In my opinion, Contemporary is getting to be a little run down and is not as nice as the other two options. Even though you are spending a good amount of money for the room, I don't think it compares to the other two, as well.
Polynesian is probably my favorite, though Grand Floridian is pretty nice as well. I really like the restaurants at Polynesian as well as the atmosphere and the look of the resort. Even though it is a little older I think it is still in great shape.
Grand Floridian is also great, you really have everything you need right at your resort. (The benefit to the monorail resorts is that you are only a short trip away from Disney's three nicest resorts, so you don't have to worry so much if go to one over the other, even if there was something you liked at the other resort. For example, I really like staying at Polynesian I like Kona Cafe etc, but I also really like Victoria and Albert's. But, I can hop on the monorail and be there really quick. If you stay at one of the other resorts, you have to ride to a park or Downtown Disney and get on a bus to the resort you want to go to) If you are wanting just top of the line everything, then this is probably the resort for you.
I would say the service at all three is pretty comparable.
They all have some really good dining choices.
Cleanliness wise, in my opinion, Grand Floridian and Polynesian are a little better than Contemporary, but that could also just be because Contemporary is a little older.
For pool, I think that Polynesians is the best and also has a really nice atmosphere if you just want to sit by the pool and have a cold drink or read a book.
If you are wanting a little bit more quiet atmosphere, I find that Grand Floridian is a little more quiet in the lobby area (though they can all be a little noisy) Grand Floridian does seem to have more adults than kids. If you are wanting a resort that is more kid friendly, then I would say Polynesian or Contemporary.
I've stayed at all three many times and have been pretty happy each time, so it is kind of hard to pick my favorite. But, if I had to choose it would most definitely be Grand Floridian and Polynesian, Polynesian may be a little ahead, but it really is too close to call.
I think the best way to choose is to look over what each resort has to offer, dining, etc. and see which one interests you the most. Also, look over some reviews and see which one seems to get the best reviews.
I've included some links to more info for you to look over. You can go to All Ears and get reviews from that site, or Trip Advisor.
Hope this helps!

Of the three you listed I have had the pleasure of staying at two of them, the Contemporary and the Polynesian. My favorite resort of all of the Disney resorts is the Polynesian. First of all the rooms are some of the largest anywhere, so you have plenty of room. The amenities are top notch, the food is outstanding, and the fact that it houses a luau and character breakfast is awesome. It is on the monorail, so you can ride the monorail to the Magic Kingdom or Epcot center. When you walk into the lobby it feels like you are transported to a tropical paradise! Plus, there is just something about being able to sit on the balcony of my room and watch the fireworks over Cinderella's castle. My choice is the Polynesian (with Saratoga Springs a close second.)
If you want some more info about the Polynesian or just going to Disney in general, check out the Disboards. The disboards is a message board website that has more information than I have ever seen about Disney. Trip reports, dining reviews, resort reviews, truthful opinions, tips and tricks for avoiding the crowds, and much more all from people who go to Disney often and know what they are talking about. I put the link below.
Hope this helps!

I personally love the Polynesian resort because it is like you just stepped off a plane and into Hawaii. The atmosphere and grounds are just breathe taking. It has a white sandy beach that is perfect to walk on especially during the evening hours, but make sure you have a tropical drink in one hand and your special someone's in the other....it is very romantic. You can watch Wishes and the Electrical Light Parade from the beach. The Poly has a few very good restaurants. First there is the Kona Cafe which is the upscale restaurant that is very good anytime you go. Second there is a character breakfast and dinner at O'hanas which is great...Lilo, Stitch, Mickey, Minnie, and Pluto come out and are excellent with the kids. Then Lastly they have a Polynesian Luau that is so authentic it is like going to one in Hawaii, if you have ever been. At night they have a torch lighting ceremony where they come out in their Hawaiian outfits and someone blows a horn of sorts as another person runs through the walkways lighting the torches, this is very neat to see. All the resorts that you are questioning are on the monorail line, but what makes the Poly so different is that it is located next to the Ticket and Transportation Center, so if you wanted to go to Epcot one day, it is a short 3-5 minute walk to hop on to one of the monorails that takes you there. I think that out of all the resorts that are in question, the Poly is more convient and well themed than the other two. If you want to see pictures of the Poly and any of the other resorts I would suggest you check out allears.net or wdwinfo.com, they have an array of pictures of the surroundings and inside the rooms. Have fun on your trip.

I like the Contemporary for the California Grill, but that's it. The look of the building is cold. I like the pool and the marina at the Polynesian. Renting little boats to buzz around the lake is really fun. The Grand Floridian is the best of the three for being clean and new looking. My familys favorite resort, though is the Animal Kingdom Lodge. The lobby is grand, the food is just the right amount of exotic and the pool has a "beach entry" and a slide. We just flat out relax watching animals chewing their supper while we sit on our balcony. I also liked the Wilderness Lodge, but my husband says the decor makes him think the place should smell like mothballs...

Polynesian lots extra desirable over the different 2. You do understand that the monorail that is going with the aid of those hotels in basic terms is going to the Magic Kingdom. To get everywhere else you could: take that monorail to the cost tag and Transportation midsection (TTC) which you would be able to stroll to from the Polynesian. From the TTC you will get off the monorail and take a distinctive monorail to EPCOT, or hop a bus to any park take a bus out of your hotel to any park From the back of all 3 of those hotels you could take a small boat over to the MK too. that's amazingly superb.

I personally like the Polynesian. It is so beautiful! The Grand Floridian is very victorian and serious, the contemporary is beautiful but I still think the polynesian is better! I love the restaurant "ohana"!

The Contemp and Poly are showing their age. The Floridian is definitely superior.
However, on our trip I found we spent so little time in the lodgings that I would go for a less expensive option next time. My definate "must have" is being on the monorail. Very convenient.

Honestly the Polynesian is the best. In my experiences I have discovered that it is the coolest and the best looking. Plus it is close to Disney.
