Yes, so that the engine is working with clean oil and a clean filter.
You should probably get the leak fixed, too.

Find the source of the leak - it might be easy and cheap to fix. It could be just valve cover gaskets or the oil pan. Otherwise, you're pouring all that oil out on the ground and contaminating the environment. Also, if the leak gets worse, you might run out of oil and ruin the engine. Then the repair bill or the cost of a new car will make you wish you'd spent the money to get it fixed.

You should change your oil even if it leaks. Part of doing an oil change is changing the filter too not just the oil.

In some ways your are "distilling" the oil and making the oil worse. Almost all the contaminants are still there but the thinner oil parts are being burned off.
===
You should focus on the cause of your buring oil, not just the oil change.

Well.. you should deffinately get it checked out.. because whereever it is leaking from on the engine.. it could get worse the gaskets or the overflow .. could be screwed.. If the oil is "leaking" .. then it would be accompanied by a smell and smoke coming from your exhaust.. and would constantly be leavin puddles..Get it to a mechanic to be fixed asap Oil "seeps" from a valve cover gasket are common on a car with more than 300,000kms.<--this doesnt mean you have to replace them right away but it should eventually get done.

You still need to have the oil changed. When the oil is changed, they change the oil filter and stuff too..

ok. yes you still need to change your oil.
first you are putting new/clean oil into dirty/old oil.
second you will still have a dirty oil filter.
always do a complete oil change every 3000-5000 miles

yeah, you should still change it every so often bc a lot of the impurities in the oil dont necesarily leak out.
