Six months to catch up to the mighty Lexus? (keep in mind, I don't even like Lexus) No way. Benz isn't bad anymore, but they're still a decent step from near perfect Toyota.

I have no idea what Chrysler has to do with this. Chrysler is still part of Mercedes Benz, which retains 20% ownership. So any change happened with Chrysler right alongside Mercedes.

JD Power deals with initial quality. It has little to do with over the road experience. My '99 was near perfect as delivered, and in fact, had high ratings from JD Power. But it has died one part at a time over the years. In retrospect, the quality was atrocious, especially by Benz standards. And that's got nothing to do with Chrysler, either. My Benz was designed and built in Stuttgart.

doubtful, the good designers, engineers have fled germany to live in korea and now work for kia and hyundai [note the unnatural rapid improvements in these cars]. as is, the german big three are 6 to 8 years behind lexus in engine management alone. the on-board electronics are finicky at best and are not user friendly at all. the plastics used do not hold up and these things still drip oil like a clapped out fiat, even rovers old "buick" engine stays dryer.

They already have beaten Toyota, and Porsche is #1 for the past two years. It may be difficult because they have sold out in trying to get everyone into a Benz.

10-20 years ago, the people who drove Benzs were the people who actually AFFORD the car...now it's all bling/posing leases...

Thank GOD, they dumped that heap Chyrsler!!

they've already beaten them in the IQS, in three different classes it took Mercedes-Benz a year to jump 20# ranks in J.D Power surveys and I believe that 6 months are more than enough to take the 1st place
