turn off the computer, leave your purse home..or just take your cell phone, but leave the wallet home, go to the mall and window shop. you could also hook up with some friends and grab a bite or a movie or ven a show if you live in the city. hope this helps...worked for me. good luck.

You know, I had a very similar problem for a while there, and it seemed like I couldn't even get online without ending up buying something off eBay or Amazon. As a result, though, I ran up my credit cards so far that I had no choice but to file for bankruptcy, which is SO not pleasant, and a little embarrassing...now that I'm starting over financially, I am trying to limit my spending, both online and at traditional stores. What I do is I have a thing called the "one week rule." If I see something online that I really want to buy, I save it in the "shopping cart" for one week. When the week is up, I go back to the site and view my cart. If it is still something I feel like I really want/need, I will go ahead and buy it at that time, but usually, the week-long wait has given me time to decide whether it is just an impulse buy, and more often than not, I end up deleting it from my cart. Good luck to you!

Maybe you should embrace your addiction and become a personal shopper!
Why not get paid for doing what you love? Ask at a ritzy department store like Nordstrom's (in CA) or Neiman-Marcus and ask how to become a personal shopper, and then go for it. You can also ask how to become a buyer for the store (imagine going shopping for a department store and buying products to put out for sale in 100-500 stores!) Then you will be spending someone else's money instead of yours.
In the meantime, you might want to write down in handwriting in a ledger book how much you spend every single day. Looking at the physcial totals on paper might shock you into beginning a program to reduce your spending.
But really, why not look into getting paid money to shop with someone else's money?
