Hi -
Interesting question there. I've got another for you - if someone is unhappy with their appearance, will the individual always be depressed and living a life of misery? I'm not too sure that anyone who is unhappy with their appearance sulks about it and is in a horrible state-of-mind. Plenty of people acknowledge their flaws and move on with them. There's always the proverbial question women ask, "do I look fat in this?" To me, this indicates that most women (men too!) have some insecurity, something they find to be unacceptable about themselves whether it be a freckle or a few extra pounds.
That said, I'm not sure that cosmetic surgery is the way to go. There seems to be a lot of people who request plastic surgery to look for better someone else, not themselves. Modifying one's body for the pleasure of someone else won't do anything to make that individual feel better - it'll just grow into an obsession to have fuller lips, a smaller waist, and the perfect smile (with capped teeth, of course). If someone seeks out plastic surgery for their own benefit and self image, then I think it can be a positive thing. However, I follow the "mens sana in corpore sano" ideology. Buying a new nose, shapelier legs, or anything else may not be as satisfying as one thinks.
Best wishes!

I think been unhappy in the way you look could be a lot deeper than just apperance. Is it something that people have told you? I dont think they should live their lives in misery they should point out the bits they are unhappy with and then try to recterfy them one by one.Say for instance they dont like their hair. Colour it or cut it give it a whole new look. Their eyes they can wear contacts. Their figure they can either lose weight or try gain weight which ever one suits them. Try dressing in something that you would never think of wearing. Constantly tell yourself that you look good and when you look ina mirror not that you look ****. Cosmetic surgery is a big thing atthe mment and loads are doing it but are they thinking of the effects? theres the cost of it and what happens if after its been done you dont like what you see.
Been beautiful is skin deep and come from with in . you can change the way you look with accesories just like you would when you dress ie a belt., earings. Try make up (if female) and the suggestions above.

I've had rhinoplasty myself. I had a huge misshappen schnozz. I thought having a rhinoplasty would change the way that people reacted to me.
Well, what happened, is that I became less self concious, but the jerks were still jerks. I might have been a little harder to separate the jerks from other people afterwards, but that's about the only difference.
If I had it to do over again, I probably wouldn't. But that's after I learned what I learned. I don't know any other way you can learn it. So, in that light, I'd say "Go ahead with the cosmetic surgery." Just don't be surprised if you learn the same thing I did.

As someone who is unhappy with my appearance, I vote that the person should do something about it. Like weight loss. In most cases, I wouldn't go for the cosmetic surgery.

I think that you should be happy no matter how you look first. Then if you want to change something go for it. Happiness comes from the inside out. Some people would not be happy no matter how they look or what they have.

Do whatever would make u happy, but also u should built up your self-esteem. Accept who u are and be proud of it!!! I hope u don't want to look like Britney S. We are all original & if we all looked like a Barbie doll it would be pretty boring. I bet you are pretty & just don't know it.
