I think they keep answering the question over and over, yes. All Muslim countries are afraid of Israel. Now, you can argue that they have the backing of the United States, and they do, but that never stopped Muslim countries from doing other things they wanted. The Israelis are an independent people and they are fiercely defensive of their position as a viable nation.

Read the history of the "6 Day War" it was one of the most amazing military victories of all times. A vastly outnumbered force overcame the assembled might of 3 armies in 6 days of HARD fighting. It was a military victory of the ages. Almost against it's will, Israel took the West bank and the Golan heights. They begged the Egyptians and the Syrians not to fight. They begged for them to back down. When they continued to ready for war. The Israeli's struck. In the first minutes of war, Israel did a preemptive strike and destroyed 80% of all air and tank and mobile forces. A preemptive strike was needed because once such a force penetrated Israel it would be impossible to stop. Remember, Israel was only 8 miles wide in some parts.
I would say, it would be a grave mistake for any nation to assume Israel won't defend itself!!

Israel have their own nuclear programme, not too many people realise this as it is kept very quiet, it also isn't inspected by the UN, the scale is unknown as they refuse to let them enter, though having the US on their side this never becomes an issue.
Ps. How can the Israelites be 'Gods chosen' people if the religion of Christianity constantly preaches equality?

The more important question is "Without US help, would Israel be forced to defend them self?"
Perhaps they could do fine without the US. Perhaps not. One thing is certain, and that is that without the US's support, we'd get an empirical answer to your question.

The only reason they can defend themselves is that since the 1960's proceeding US governments have been pouring billions into Isreal as part of Military aid...the reason they have all these weapons is due to US money, plain and simple. Had they not had the cash, Israel would find it difficult to defend herself.
Israel is the ***** of the USA.

LOL Israel is not the 4th most powerful army in the World. They are 26th (thats behind Sweden and Thailand). They need the U.S. much more than most people think.

Believe it or not, Israel is very well prepared to defend themselves. Most of the world is against them, but in the final battle of the earth it is on Israels land that Armageddon will take place. You must remember Israelites are Gods chosen people.

Yes. They have done it in the past. Actually, we might support them in terms of selling them arms, but the Arabs buy there arms from other countries as well. So you could also say, "can the arabs defeat Israel without the aid of Russia and France?"

I am convinced that Israel will be occupied by Palestine instantly if the US withdraw its affiliation with Israel.

They can...but it would almost certainly lead to carnage in the region. I am no fan of US foreign policy, but they certainly do work as a power broker in the middle east.
I do not foresee anything but an uncomfortable cease fire being possible for many years to come...unfortunately.
