I agree it's best to ask your vet about this since he will be more familiar with your dog's medical history and nutritional needs, but you can boil ground beef, chicken, and the like and put them through a food processor or blender before giving them to the dog. A few cooked veggies mixed in aren't a bad idea either - potato, carrots, peas, plus some rice.

Kudos to you for adopting an abused animal!

I would definitely talk to your vet about what he/she thinks the dog should be eating. There are good choices of wet food out there (such as Duck and Potato which you can get from your vet). The reason I tell you to talk to your vet is because a diet full of wet food will lead to not-so-solid waste. Which is not good for the dog and surely not good for the person that has to clean it up. Your vet may recommend fish or chicken that is easier to chew and more solid then wet food.

Try Pedigree dog pouches. Also you could mix up some ordinary food (my dog likes veggies and a bit of our meat) mixed up well so it's soft. Poor little thing - at least he will be loved and looked after well now. Just one thing, why have you listed this posting under "fish".

You might try giving him soft food usually found in a can.

If this is not available to you, then see if you can find canned cat food for adult cats, as this would supply all the protein the dog will need until you can find something else more suitable.

good quality dry food can be soaked with say, warm water or veggie water to the consistency he prefers. for treats mine enjoy mango or pieces of pear, banana is good too. this soft food may encourage tartar on his teeth, so if he will let you, brush them now and again to stop build up. there is a dog toothpaste which may encourage him as it tastes good! i have an abused dog too and it is wonderful to see the transformation through loving kindness. he will be such a blessing to you.

Poor thing, I would ask your local vet about what he/she thinks. I would try puppy food, cause it's some what soft. I would honestly try to stay away from alot of people food, cause then he might dig through the trash and eat what you through away. We did that with my dog and we regret it now.
