Both parties have their rotten apples, but at least none
of the Democrats claimed they were spoken to by God.
That was as disturbing as Ted Haggard being the leader
of the largest Christian organization in the country.
Go figure.

This is a representative sample of the ones that got caught. The GOP usually has enough money to cover up all their bad values. Democrats have never ran solely on their moral values or gotten a group of holy rollers to support them in their quest for office. It is sad that we do have so many people that lack any Moral fiber representing us but with the attacks from the right wingers and the left wingers not many people of good character are willing to run. We need to make sure that tax exempt monies that is used by the Moral pushing people get out of politics. If your group is tax exempt your group has no right to lobby. People who do not pay highway taxes should not be on the road. Maybe we need to go back to common sense and stop calling names to Getting better people running for office.

It's a testament to the American system that those who are corrupt are capible of being removed from office and convicted. In most nations corruption is not only tolerated, it's expected. In most of the world nothing gets done, even normal daily functions of government, without sliping a government official a couple of bucks. And in those nations, if anybody accuses a politican of corruption they usually end up dangling from the end of a rope! Furthermore, given the history of America, with all the corruption in days gone by, ie the political machines of Chicago (and most other cities), it's astounding that there is this much transperency in government today.
This by no means absolves any wrongdoing on the part of any politician caught being corrupt, but I think whenever a crooked politician goes to jail then it's a shining example of how much better the United States is than the majority of the rest of the world.
But, I need to point out that Republicans are not alone in being corrupt... case in point, William Jefferson from Lousiana... he was indited last week on charges of corruption. Remember the proverb, "power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absoutly".

Notice how conservatives aren't screaming about a "huge left-wing conspiracy", even though there actually is one? That Libby thing is the biggest piece of crap I've ever heard of. He supposedly lied about conversations that he could not remember having with people whose accounts of those same conversations differed, and all of this related to questions being asked in some inquiry where no charges were ever filed against anyone, and somehow Libby ends up in prison. Crooked Republicans?!?!?! Seriously, what is wrong with you people?

Hey Argyle~
Isn't it sad at all of the finger pointing that people do when someone illustrates the things that are wrong with the politicians regardless of party affiliation!!!
It's appalling and indefensible of the people the citizens elect to abuse their positions for self-advancement and greed!!!
It is very frustrating that rather than admit there is a problem within your own party with some of its members and policies some feel the wiser and safer course is to highlight and address the problems of the opposition!!!
Seems to me BOTH major political parties need to some MAJOR housecleaning!!!

Double standard morals is what the Conservatives claim now with Newt Gingrich. I don't waist to much time analyzing anymore since the morals and values thing didn't work for the right wingers, they couldn't cover-up who they really are. The inconsistency's are over whelming.

Democratic morals is an oxymoron. William Jefferson 16 inditements thats an all time record against one congressman. When Repubs find a perv or crook at least they get rid of them. What's your excuse?

Migod "Republicans" used in the same sentence as "morals, ethics, and values"..not sure what to call that but you are right they have none and all this was known before the last election so what is the matter with Americans..maybe they respect and thrive on bad "morals, ethics, and values." and to add to it, Bush looks at his people like they are stupid...and you do not even touch upon the potential of Cheney and his conflict of interest with Halliburten or the attorney general.

The prosecution of these "criminals" is nothing more than a political ploy by ambitious republican zealots to demonstrate to their followers the valuable service they have provided which will make this country safer for our citizens.
I think you should provide a list of the social programs put in place by republicans that have provided opportunities for non elitists to gain education and skills they can use to qualify for employment positions that pay a wage higher than minimum.

Cutting and pasting the DNC talking points today I see. Funny how they forget about their own. You know the impeached former President, the congressman with 90k in cash in his freezer and the list does go - on and on. I think the real issue is how parties react to their own failures. Republicans encouraged Delay to quit, encouraged the idiot from San Diego to plead a deal, and what exactly do the democrats do with their losers? Defend them to the end.
