something started to download on my computer and i cliked X but i guess that didnt do anything.. and i know its in C://documetns and settings but it wont show the rest of the file name and i need to get it off asap .. how can i bring it to show the whoel file name or what can i do to get rid of it!!!

Right-click whatever part it shows and select "Delete" in the context menu that pops up.

Another way to do it is to open a Search, set it to read through all folders, hidden or no, and list all files created on or after that date.

In any case...play it safe, and run a complete AV scan.

If you're lucky, the download, if it did anything, left an incomplete file fragment that can be easily deleted.

Finally, if you are relying on the pre-installed firewall that comes with XP or Vista...disable those and install a commercially available one. The MS firewall(s) have several pre-programmed holes to allow your OS to alert MS to problems with your computer.

mm, what makes u sure it's still there.? Anyway, try using disk cleanup. Start>Programs>Accessories>System tools>Disk Cleanup and use it on drive C. Am not sure it would work, I will b e online for the next hours so you can keep me updated if you still have a problem.

go to start--> right click--> explorer--> choose documents and settings--> on top of window --> hit tools-->folder options-->view-->find : hidden files and...--> choose : show hidden files and folders-->Apply.
You good to go.
