We built a box into the end of our in-ground pool that contained a reel. The boxes had hinged lids and an opening at the lip-level where the cover could easily be pulled out across the pool. When we wanted it off we just turned the reel and the cover was rolled up and hidden from view and from the damage of the sun and dirt and stuff. You could try that. They might even sell those somewhere, I don't know.

Good luck!

If you are asking what to do with a solar cover when it's not on the pool. Keep it in a cool shaded area. It's not good for it to be out in the sun, when not in the water. Hope that helps. Put it in a garage, under a tree, etc.
