Xbox Live is a place where you can purchase or get free, down loadable content for games for your Xbox 360. You can also purchase/get free videos, arcade games, movies, tv shows, ad-dons, themes, pictures, etc. You can also play multiplayer games across the Internet with your friends or pick up a game with people all over the world.

To get it, all you need is a high-speed Internet connection. You can sign up for a free Silver account for Xbox Live . You can then have access to the stuff I describe above. To be able to play on-line games with other people, however, you will need a Gold Account that costs $50 USD per year.

Xbox live is the online gaming system Xbox uses. All Xbox 360s come with a silver membership, which allows you to download stuff from the marketplace, but you have to buy a gold membership card to play online with others.
