What do I need to purchase in order to play XBox games on the XBox 360? Is it an adapter or what is needed?

I went to www.xbox.com, then search for backward compatable cd, you can download it and burn your own cd to put into the xbox 360, then you can play most of the xbox games, you don't have to buy anything.

No, all you will need is an update patch that will automatically download when you pop in your game, if you are connected to Xbox Live. However, some games are not backward compatible, like Morrowind for example. Do a search for a list of backward compatible games.
