For the Final Fantasy game for XBox 360, can this be played like any other XBox 360 game? Somebody told me that this can only be played online, what does that mean if I purchase the game?

Final Fantasy 11 for the 360 can only be played online. To play the game, you must have an Xbox Live membership.
For all other Final Fantasy games, they can be played as a one player game.

the only FF game for 360 is Final Fantasy 11. it is an online MMO (Massively Multiplayer Online Game)
it is all online. its a story you play out with other players like World Of Warcraft or Guild Wars.
if you buy the game you will need Xbox Live to play it, not to mention a Credit Card as you need to pay monthly fees to play (most MMO rpgs are like this)
FF11 was origionaly for the PC. it hasnt transfered well to 360 (i have it, it was hard to communicate and controlls are fiddely. you need to buy a USB keyboard to be able to talk to other players well)
if you really want to play FF11. then buy it for PC. set up is easier.
so to re cap:
its only online.
you need gold xbox live accound
a credit card
a keyboard (dont need it but it makes life easier)
its a game best avoided. as far as final fantasies and MMOs go it is a poor game. (talking about the 360 port, on average it scored 5/10 where the PC version scores well at 8/10)
not to mention that square plan to close it down in 2010.

Ive heard rumors yet no longer something concrete i'm hoping its on the 360 i'm truly disapointed with sony recently they have been truly a great employer yet microsoft has in basic terms outgunned them the ps3 video games look not greater advantageous then xbox 360 and the 360 is a terrific purchase greater decrease priced

if your the monk guy get the black belt when ur guy is levil 43 than when u get all the playble peoples compet the game and than when the game is done
u can unlock things like the extra mode and others extras
