Me and my buddies just finished bachelor padding out the house. I'm talking flat screens mounted on the wall, pool table, and best of all, our very own bar in the kitchen with a pressurized tap system. I'm just wondering how much pressure to set the regulator up with to get the best results. We've got a 10lb CO2 tank and a single half barrel. Also, if we go for quarter barrels, does the pressure need to be lowered?

Switched to a tap system myself about a year a go it is the way to go. Regulate it down to about 8 psig, someone here suggested 20-25 do that and all you will get is foam. 10lb tank will last about 5-6 1/2 barrels. When getting it refilled, release the remaining pressure, and make sure the person that is filling it checks the cylinder to make sure it is not liquid empty. What you are putting in your cylinder is liquid CO2 which then vaporises into a gas if not your 10lb cylinder would only last for part of or maybe one keg. Keep the cylinder in the fridge also. When using the regulator only move a little at a time as it takes time for the pressure to adjust. (if it is at twelve it will remain there until you tap a few brews to get the pressure down. If the keg gets warm before you change it out you will get allot of foam until it chills down. Keep an extra case in the fridge for the weekends in case she goes out. Mason jars are a good cheap glass for frosting. Same pressure for 1/4's as 1/2's.
